About Highwire ImprovImprov is the process of a community coming together to make art in real-time. Although there are many improv techniques, training programs, and performance practices, at Highwire Improv our process begins with community. That includes our performers, the people of Baltimore, and the larger improv community across the world. Our motto, Community First, commits us to learning how we can all create theater and bring our community to the world through the art of improv. We are a reaction to the negative impulses and incentives we have seen in improv, in theater, and in our daily lives.

This course teaches parents the power of improvisation and the benefits of using flexibility during stressful situations. Taught through the structure of a standard improv curriculum, this parenting workshop is aimed to build parents’ abilities to think on their feet in the midst of chaos, creating positive outcomes and memories for their children.
This workshop is for the adults only, and is open to parents, almost-parents, and anyone who is involved with children in a family or work environment!
Facilitator Bio:
Bridie Schellenberg (she/her) is a parody songwriter and improvisor for the masses and, perhaps more importantly, for her three children. She is a stand up comedian, a sketch comedy writer, emcee, karaoke aficionado, and cheese lover who loves short walks on the beach and speaking in obscure accents. Bridie Schellenberg is a graduate of The Second City Chicago Conservatory Program. She continues to perform with several ensemble groups, including Baltimore’s own Senior Mints Comedy. In a former life, Bridie was a competitive dance choreographer and former dancer. Though performing comedy is where her heart lies, her biggest accomplishments will always be giving birth and eating a block of cheese to completion.

BSC first started, and where we fit in the pantheon of Maryland Rye distilleries. You’ll get a full production tour, learn about pot distillation, and learn the nuance of blending barrels. Finally, for the main event, you’ll try 4 different barrel finishes of Epoch Rye, and blend them the way you want into your own custom bottle for you to take home.
